Morphy Richards 48718 Important Features
With many electrical appliances, especially kitchen ones, there can be a lot of different features. Many of these are nice to haves, and some are must haves.
We like to talk about both, but it is very important to understand the really important features, and what benefits they can bring to you and your cooking. We have listed these below.
What Size is It?
It measures 36 x 28 x 25.5 cm and weighs 5.5 Kg (just over 12 lbs) It uses 330 watts of power. It has a 4.5 litre working capacity which means that is the amount that it can hold inside to cook. That is an ideal size for families.
What Is It Made Of?
It is made of a polished stainless steel with an internal ceramic dish that can be washed in a dishwasher. The dish can also be lifted out and brought to the table to act as a serving dish.
What Can You Make With It?
Like any slow cooker, this one is great for casseroles, hot pots, stews, chilli and great tasting curries. This one is big enough to cook a leg of lamb, roast a joint or a whole chicken. It can also be used to make soup.
With this model you do get a recipe book included so plenty of ideas in that book.
Can You Wash It?
The good news is that the ceramic pot can be removed, and that is dishwasher safe. As the appliance is electrical, that should never be placed in the water. However as it is stainless steel, it is very easy and fast to wipe down with a damp cloth.
The ceramic dish on this one is non-stick and that makes it really easy to clean.
Is There a Guarantee?
This model comes with a 2 year guarantee but you must register the product online at the Morphy Richards website. Always do that as soon as the product arrives, otherwise you tend to forget about it.
What Features Does It Not Have?
Certain features may be important to you, so I have included some features that you may want, but that are not on this Morphy Richards model:
- There is no timer
- No LED or any type of display
We think a timer is a great idea for these as you can then set and forget, which is always really useful. This model doesn't have a timer, but you can buy a cheap timer plug for around £2, and then plug this slow cooker into that.
That should save you some money as slow cookers with timers are usually a lot more expensive. Setting up these cheaper timers is also really easy.
Our Verdict on the Morphy Richards 48718 Slow Cooker
This is a very good family sized slow cooker. If you like the idea of being able to put on a stew, soup, casserole, joint, chicken etc and then leaving it alone to cook, then this one will do the job nicely.
This is a "no frills" slow cooker, so there is nothing fancy on this one like programs, digital displays or timers. Put the ingredients in to it, pick one of the three settings, switch it on and let the slow cooker do the rest.
It is a proper 4.5 litre family sized slow cooker, so ideal for families, but also ideal for doing one large batch, and then freezing what is left over.
You can quickly and easily see into it thanks to the glass lid, and the cool handles are a great safety feature. This cooker also looks really good and will suit most kitchens, not that you will leave it sitting out.
Slow cooking is a healthy option and also one of the cheapest methods of cooking. With this one you can make enough for about 8 starter size portions, or about 6 main dishes.
